MetLife Pet Insurance accident and illness coverage can help cover things such as: broken bones, cancer, emergency vet care, exam fees, x-rays, surgeries, medications, holistic/alternative therapies, and much more!

  • Optional Preventive Care Coverage - While a standard policy can help protect you against the unexpected, an optional wellness plan can help you save big on the predictable. Is there a waiting period for my policy to become effective?

Accident and illness coverage begins upon your first payroll deduction. There is a short timeframe between enrollment and effective date. Accident coverage and preventive care coverage (for those who select it) begin on the effective date of your policy. There is a 14-day waiting period on illness coverage after your effective date.

Do all veterinarians accept this pet insurance?

Yes. MetLife Pet Insurance works as a reimbursement program, so policyholders are free to use any licensed veterinarian within the U.S.

Can I add another pet to my existing policy?

Yes, simply call (855) 436-9497.

Must a pet be of certain age before it can be enrolled for protection?

For initial enrollment, cats and dogs must 8 weeks or older.
